Heather Leier is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Calgary. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and she has curated numerous contemporary art projects. Leier’s practice examines embodied trauma and the social narratives that shape identity, belonging, endurance, and survival. Working across printmaking, textiles, printed ephemera, and site-responsive installation, she investigates how bodies navigate violence within social and institutional structures. Grounded in printmaking as a relational practice of repetition, exchange, and collective learning, her work foregrounds care, reciprocity, and resilience as strategies for sustaining communities.
